Pastor Jeremy is currently reading . . .

This is an
excellent study dealing with ongoing demographic
trends concerning Christianity. Many assume
that Christendom is at death's door as Western
Europe and the US have become secularized and bent
on their own extinction through abortion, low
birthrates, and immigration without assimilation.
Yet, Philip Jenkins proves that while the West is in
fact dying, Christianity is by no means in the same
boat. Christianity is exploding in the
Global South (Africa, Asia & South America).
Granted, this is all but ignored by the West.
But such growth
is significant because with the possible exception
of the US, all that
will be left of Western culture in the next century
will be
found in museums (given that their new Islamic care-
takers do not burn them down), and the Global South
will rule the day. By
2050 Christians will number 2.6
billion and only 1 out of 10 will have a Caucasian
face.
Ever thought of Christianity as the White man's
religion? Think again!
I'm a little behind seeing that this book is more
than fifteen years old now. However, I've been
following MacArthur's ministry since before I came
out of the Charismatic movement in '95, and was
influenced in my decision based on the solid
teaching of this great man. This book is
challenging. It reminds us that while many
churches are turning to Psychology and psychotropic
drugs to solve people's problems, God's Word alone
is sufficient. MacArthur shows that while
pastors are now turning people away by referring
them to secular counselors, no school of secular
Psychology even claims to have real answers. "We need godly
men & women
committed to the truth that in Christ we
inherit
spiritual resources sufficient for every need."
Whatever problems you are struggling with; Christ
alone is sufficient grant you victory.
